Celebration of Light is going on downtown Vancouver. Last night it was Mexico’s turn and they put on one heck of a show. Something for China to beat when they are up on Saturday.

WEC

This is why this blog is somewhat slow at the moment. Well, we’re not actually eating, drinking, playing and connecting as much as we’re doing photography, but the rest of the people at the Vancouver Convention Centre are. The WEC2010 is currently held there and it’s huge.

Cole and I are working 24/7, thus the lack of updates. Stay tuned for some Mexicana pics shortly though.

Celebrating the GOLD | Vancouver Photographer

The Olympic games are over. But the last day of the Olympics is a day the people of Vancouver will never forget (unless they partied too hard that night). All 14 gold medals (record for a host country) were big here, but nothing comes even close to beating the overtime victory in the hockey final.

We were at The Cambie (a pub) at 9am for the 12.15 game. That’s over 3 hours before the game, and there was still over 50 people ahead of us in line. Apparently people had been in line to pubs as early as 7.30 that morning. That’s how big this game was.

After watching the game we went to the madness at Robson Street and Granville Street, before enjoying the Closing Ceremony at Robson Square.

I’ve never seen anything like this before, and I’m not sure I ever will again. The hosting country winning the game they love the most. In overtime. Against their arch rivals. That’s big.

What’s a Vancouver photographer’s blog without pictures of the Olympic flame? Bad is what it is. Let’s change that now.

There you go. And every time Canada wins a gold medal, the Olympics rings in the water turn golden. That was the case this night, and tourists (as well as locals) just couldn’t get enough of them.
