Money for nothing

I’ve been doing some weird stuff lately. Maybe it’s because I’m stressed about all things that need to be arranged before my journey. To exemplify, here’s a short story from last week:

It was Wednesday. I’d been shooting a couple of Swedish celebrity artists at work, after which I had a grab’n'go lunch and left for another photo job about an hour outside Stockholm. As we – me and my colleague – got back home later that afternoon, I was hungry as a bungry. However, I decided to make a short stop at the gym first and get some Thai food to go afterwards. My fridge was empty too, so grocery store -> gym -> back home for dinner was the plan.

I stopped by at the local ICA grocery store, picked up some food and hygiene articles, got to the counter, payed with a 500 crowns bill, got the change, smiled and said ‘Thank you‘. All good that far. Then I did my 45 minute workout, got the Thai food (Bee’s Thaifood on Kungsholmen, lots of food for no money at all – love it!), and hurried home. Ate my delicious Thai dinner, took a shower and sat down with by my mac to edit some pictures. Then I realized I had forgot to put food I bought in the fridge. Got up to do that right away.

BUT HEY! Where are the grocery bags?!?

NOOOOOOOOO. I left it all at the store. Didn’t even pack it in a bag. I just payed, smiled and walked out. Jeeeeeeez. It was late already, the store was closed and I didn’t even have a receipt. I could do nothing but laugh. Ain’t that well spent money!?!

So what does this teach us (me)? Don’t leave your brain at home. And don’t stress. And don’t pay and leave what you bought at the store, stupid! (I punished myself by working to midnight that evening.)

Cole - What’s a bungry?

Why is this picture so awesome and nobody has commented on it’s awesomeness yet?

Did you actually say ‘thank you’ eller ‘tack så mycket’?

Who are these Swedish celebrities? Was it Blondibella? I think she’s the bee’s knees and I’m considering adding her to Twitter.

Why did the selfish ICA clerk not yell at you when you left the store with no bags?

Do you have the Karhu’s ready?

How have you improved so dramatically in your English? Is it our indepth Facebook chats?

Finally, how the heck did you not realize you left the store without the groceries! Were you thinking about whether or not Luongo will be the starter for Team Canada or were you thinking about whether Canada will destroy Sweden or Russian in the Gold Medal final?

All these questions. Great post though my English-writing, Swedish-speaking, Finnish friend…..

Cole - Oh yeah – I think it’s ‘Nothing for Money’ in this situation ;)

Jakob Granqvist - That’s a lot of questions my Canadian Sweden loving friend. And I’ll answer them all.
1. Don’t you have Bungries in Vancouver? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hungry+as+a+bungry 2. I said ‘Tack’, I think. In too much of a hurry to say “Tack så mycket”. 3. The celebrities was a Swedish artist couple who were judges in a competition at work. Blondinbella would have been more fun though. 4. The ICA clerk probably didn’t even have a chance to see me leave. I was fast as lightning. 5. The Karhu’s are still to be bought. 6. Our in-depth Facebook chats have been definitely vital for my keeping my English knowledge fresh. 7. Loungo hasn’t been too much on my mind lately, so I don’t think that’s the reason for my stupidness. How to conquer the world might have been what I was thinking about.
8. And yes, ‘Nothing for Money’ would be more correct actually. But I like Dire Straits. :-)

Jakob Granqvist - Oh yeah, the picture. I actually took it a few moths back for a project at work. It’s a little Swedish money family. Bonus points for anyone who can name the people on the bills (without using Wikipedia).
