Do we need another place online to communicate? Sure we do. If you haven’t seen Formspring.me yet I suggest you check it out. Lots of people are on there and you can ask them anything you want. Including me.
Here are a few of the questions I’ve answered this far.
Are you going to miss 2009?
Nope. 2010 will be way better.
Is photography art?
Photography is an art form, yes. But I don’t feel like an artist when I take pictures. I feel like a photographer. But then again, if photography is an art form, and I’m a photographer, I guess I am an artist.
If there was absolutely no need to be paid, what would you photograph?
Weddings and People. I do this because I love it.
What camera are you using?
Mostly a Nikon D700. His name is Willy.
Do you use two camera bodies for wedding photography?
I do. On one there’s usually a 50 mm lens, on the other something wider.
What’s the nicest thing someone’s ever done for you?
Cole and Therese are letting me stay in their apartment now. That’s pretty darn nice.
Do you ever shoot with film?
It’s all digital.
Do you believe in God?
I’m not a very religious person.
What camera under $350 do you recommend for the average person?
I have no idea. I think there are some good cheap ones out there, but as usual, you probably get what you pay for.
Who inspires you the most?
People who go all-in in life. People with passion. People take risks. And probably many others as well.
Could you explain your workflow?
Sure.
Click.
Upload to computer.
Back-up.
Open in Lightroom.
Make adjustments.
Export.
Open in Photoshop.
Do whatever needed (b/w, contrast, colour – this is the time consuming part, because every image needs different adjustments).
Sharpen.
Save as JPEG.
Make blog size, sharpen and save for web.
Done.
Want to make jump from amateur photog to something more – what is the 1st thing I should do?
Have a little money on the bank account. You probably won’t be making too much money in the first couple of months.
Do you believe in fate?
I believe you make your own fate.
If you could spend the next three years being a wedding photographer in three different countries, which ones would you pick?
Wow. There are tons of places I’d like to work in. But for now, I like it in Vancouver, so one would be Canada. And I’d love to live somewhere warm too, so why not Australia. Southern Europe wouldn’t be too bad either, so Italy maybe. Or Spain.
What’s your favorite city?
Vancouver.
Favourite thing to photograph that isn’t people??
Cool architecture, perhaps.
Where will you be living in 5 years?
I have no idea. Somewhere warm I hope.
Do you work in canada only?
Nope. Would love to get more stamps in my passport.
So if there’s anything you’d like to know, or something you think I should cover in a blog post, you no longer need to fire away e-mails or send me postcards. Just ask anything on Formspring. Go nuts. :-)
