Being two photographers is a huge advantage. For lots of reasons. Sometimes, however, we’re sorta in each other’s way. Meaning I end up in Cole’s pictures and him in mine.

Here’s Cole creeping around while I was trying to find the perfect composition of Adam and Lisa last night.

And here I am in one of Cole’s pictures.

We got some great stuff with Adam and Lisa though. Check out a couple of frames on the Nordica site. Lots more is coming.

West Vancouver Engagement Photos

Is it easier to take pictures of someone you know or of complete strangers? That’s a question I’ve been asked many times.

And I always answer that I don’t know. That it depends on the couple, the situation and the chemistry.

But thinking more about it, I’d have to choose the prior. Even though it sometimes may be a bit awkward at first, it’s easier and more comfortable if you have some sort of relation with the people on the other side of the lens. That’s also a reason why we (as in Nordica) always try to meet and chat with couples before shoots. And why we prefer doing engagement shoots before weddings. To build that relation.

This one didn’t need much relationship building though. These are two of my best friends from back home, and Cole and I did an engagement shoot (they got engaged on a paradise island just before flying in to Canada) with them as they were visiting Vancouver on their trip around the world.

Winter Wedding // Vinterbröllop

It feels weird to think about Christmas as the sun is shining and people are wearing nothing but shorts. However, the days go by so fast it’ll be winter again in no time.

Sorry for bringing that up, but I just want to stress the fact that Nordica Photography will be spending December and January in Sweden/Finland celebrating the holidays with family and friends. And while relaxing is the main reason we’re going “home”, we would love (love!) to do some winter weddings in the region (region = Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland or any other place “close”).

So if you know anyone getting married around that time, please let them know that we are available and would love to discuss their wedding photography.

Nordica Photography kommer att spendera jul- och nyårshelgen i Sverige/Finland och skulle mer än gärna fota några härliga vinterbröllop under tiden vi är “hemma”.

Så om du känner nån som ska gifta sig i december eller januari och som inte har bokat fotograf ännu, be dem skicka ett mejl. Vi vill jättegärna diskutera eventuella fotomöjligheter!

Portrait shoot | Capilano University

Sometimes you need to help mother nature get on the right track. Here’s Cole in action (you can tell he’s into it from the look on his face) making the cherry blossoms magically fall down on Sherry and Nick, as we were taking photos of them at Capilano University a few days back.

Facebook Tagging Contest | Vancouver Photographer

So, if you’ve been around for a while you know by now that I work together with Cole at Nordica Photography, as Vancouver Wedding Photographers. And you might also know that Nordica Photography has a Facebook page.

What you might not know is that we’re having a Tagging contest over there right now, where all you need to do is tag yourself in a picture to be in the draw for a free Premium Social Media Package (i.e. a free photo shoot, a free custom made Twitter background and a free website / blog).

Head over to our Facebook page to check it out, 71 people have entered this far. The contest has been running for three days and will close April 1st, at noon Vancouver time.

Oh, and by the way – you might also want to check out the pictures from the Hearts for Haiti event, where Nordica Photography was doing live photo blogging. We also donated an item – which was sold – and we had a heck of a good time.

Project on the go | Vancouver Photographer

Misc post | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Just want to share a couple of things today.

Cole and I had a photo shoot with Sean and Ian of OneWeekJob. It’s a very interesting project and they’re about to release a movie and a book soon. Read more about it here.
Ian, who filmed the OneWeekJob documentary brought his camera to our shoot and made a small (but awesome!) video. The pictures from the shoot will be up soon on the Nordica Photography blog.

We also had a great portrait shoot with lovely Rachel a couple of days ago. Photos will be posted soon!

The last thing I wanted to share today is that I’m moving in to a new apartment in the West End on Monday. And since the apartment is empty, a good friend of mine came up with the great idea of having a BYOF party. That’s short for Bring Your Own Furniture (and leave it) party. So anyone who’ll be in Vancouver on Saturday (feb 6th) is more than welcome to the BYOF party in my new place!
This far people have donated chairs, dishes, homebrew equipment, a TV, a giant cow-patterned beanbag. And more. Cole was kind enough to post a wish list (and a this-far-donated list), found here. Number 20 and 24 have highest priority.
